Regulator because it is a warm blooded animal and is able to maintain optimum temperature for its body to function.
Dormant because lions are territorial, they usually stay in a single area. Males in a pride inspect their territory to guard off against other intruding animals.
Consumer because it is a heterotroph and cannot make food for itself. Instead it relies upon other organisms for essential nutrients to survive.
Carnivore because this species diet is mainly composed of meats. From wildebeest to elephants, they prey upon animals not plants, so they are classified as carnivores.
Generalist because they are a widespread land animal found all throughout africa and can habitat woodlands to savannas when searching for food.
Niche: Lions are considered apex predators as other animals generally do not hunt lions when they are mature adults. However, they are also classified as scavengers as they obtain 50% of their food from scavenging while they can. Spotted hyenas and lions share the same ecological niche and compete as predators as the hyena steals a significant amount of prey from the lions. They generally hunt buffulo, zebra, wildebeest and warthogs in africa.
